  • Open Units

Open units are psychiatric units that are not as secure as crisis stabilization units. They are not used for acutely dangerous persons; the focus in these units is to make life as normal as possible for patients while continuing treatment. Units are unlocked unless staff decides to take away privileges, so patients can socialize and interact with one another unaccompanied. Every hour staff checks on location and safety of each patient. Alcohol, drugs, razors, scissors, plastic bags, and other potentially harmful items are not allowed in the unit. Smoking is prohibited.

Every hour staff checks on location and safety of each patient. Alcohol, drugs, razors, scissors, plastic bags, and other potentially harmful items are not allowed in the unit. Smoking is prohibited.
