Hill of Acropolis Setting Empty Re: Hill of Acropolis Setting

The year is 1998 and the city of Tucson, Arizona isn't quite everything it seems. With rural areas quickly being forced to urbanize to keep up with the growing population, crime begins to run rampant. A less than honest police force doesn't help the odds either, often turning a blind eye to heavy criminal activity and preying on those with petty charges, or even worse, the innocent or less fortunate.

Despite the fast paced environment that the city has flourished in, up on a hill, time seems to stand still. Not many know what lingers behind the doors of Acropolis Psychiatric Hospital, and not many dare to ask. Of course it's general knowledge that the institution takes in the mentally ill when they have nowhere else to go. Most consist of patients that are referred there by criminal courts for psychiatric assessment before sentencing, even though for many decades now, the term "criminally insane" is no longer legally or medically recognized. Whispers on the street insist that the Psychiatric Hospital is more like a prison than a hospital, and that the Psychiatrists who subject others to coercion function are more like jailers, placing the psychiatric hospital in the same category as concentration camps. However speaking with the team of caregivers at Acropolis they continually reassure their professionalism and skill level with bright smiles and proven success rates, and put an end to the old fashioned rumors that float about.

... but those behind the walls know that this is not the case. One might think that the dedicated staff of the institution focus their time and attention on caring for their already present patients, but when greed comes into play, this focus shifts towards a darker intent. With the nice chunk of change offered to the hospital daily from both state funding and health insurance for keeping each bed filled, the staff behind the scenes leave no reservations in going through some less than moral ways to make sure the number of patients admitted stays consistent. The less fortunate or even those who have fallen on hard times they all have one thing in common - one thing that appeals to Acropolis and their devious ways. These people very rarely have anyone to fall back on; anyone to care to come to their rescue once they are behind hospital doors. Of course, outwardly the institution fully intends to keep it's reputation of a reputable mental center helping those with mental illnesses.

In reality, most of the staff themselves should be found behind similar doors.
